Critical Consciousness Among Latine Young Adults

What is this study about?  
In this new study, we plan to examine themes of critical consicousness within Latine young adults narratives in relation to meaning making of racial/ethnic identity. 

Are you actively recruiting research assistants for this project? 
Undergraduate students at the University of California, Davis who are interested in learning about and assisting with qualitative data analysis should complete a research assistant application located on the home page. 

Who participated in this study? 
63 young adult college students gathered at a large University in the southwest United States. 

Ethnic/Racial Conversations 

What is this project about? 
In this study, we are examining dynamics of conversations about ethnicity and race among a diverse sample of young adults comprising pairs of friends. We are interested in how young adults encourage or avoid/mitigate the importance of race/ethnicity thorugh their conversations. We are also examining how variations in the way people make meaning of racial/ethnic experiences varies between conversations with a friend and personal narratives. 

What is American Identity?

What is this project about?

In this study, we examine conceptions of what it means to be Americans among a racially and ethnically diverse sample of young adults. We are interested in understanding what characteristics and traits young people associate with being American and how conceptions of being American correspond with racial/ethnic identity and US identity.
